With the forecast showing an OK breeze starting from Tuesday I didn’t think I would make it out on the water today. Mag and I had an early bike ride around Felixstowe, then it was childmind a couple of lovely girls, we had a nice walk along the prom and the East breeze had filled in so I decided to take the gear to The Dip as it was warm with wall to wall sunshine.
My plan was to go for a longboard cruise but with 18 kts on the gauge I took a chance with 8.5 on the 147 and I only needed a few more knots of wind for a 5 star session! The best wind was early in the session as I planned over 2 miles out to sea in the smooth sea. It was a real shame the wind didn’t play ball as there was some super flat water in close behind the shingle bar! You could get the board up and going by running down the swell. I covered over 40 km by myself for most of the session but was joined on the water by a couple and dinghies from Bawdsey and a lone kitesufer.
Fingers crossed we get a fraction more wind tomorrow with the afternoon being best as the tide drops :)
